About Me

Studio 49 Photography is a fully equiped purpose built photographic studio in Gilwern just outside Abergavenny, a small town nestling between the hills of the Black Mountains.I aim to produce creative, highly individual and stylish work from relaxed portraiture photography, magazine reportage & feature work, imaginative advertising and corporate images and design through to landscape photography.Please browse through the website to view some of my most recent work via the 'Portfolio' section above.Kind regardsMichael Taylor

Family Portraits & 'A Year in the Life' Baby Package

A great family portrait should capture the character and spirit of the moment, which can only be achieved through a relaxed and spontaneous approach to the photography.At Studio 49 Photography we have both the experience and enthusiasm to create stunning images that make you smile, reflect and most importantly - capture the real you.During the session the aim is to instill fun and movement thereby producing a series of unique images that are original & stylish.Studio 49 offer 2 packages - Original and Freedom.ORIGINAL - £50The sitting lasts for about an hour - this is your time to make your own so feel free to bring along any props you wish from musical instruments, sports gear even pets!You are then invited back for a viewing where you will see your images projected on a large screen so that you can see the details of the photographs.Included in this package is a print out of all the photo's including a CD containing low resolution images which can be great to view on your computer, to share with others or even to use as a wallpaper on your phone. Available to order are specialist fine art Giclee prints that capture subtle tones and details providing the truest reproduction possible.The nature of the bespoke image sizes allows you to take advantage of locally hand made frames.FREEDOM - £25This slimmed down option gives you the same quality of photography within a 30 minute session. You retain flexibility and control of the images as they are supplied on-line for you to purchase. There are a range of products available for you to order from non framed, framed and canvas prints as well as other items such as mugs, mouse mats and key-rings.Typical prices;10x7" Prints in mounts for £12.0016x12" Prints for £21.5010x7" Print, mounted and framed for £48.00Please contact if you require further pricesWHAT TO WEAR?It's always a good idea to bring along a variety of clothes, however given the relaxed nature of the photographic style, bright colours and denim work well, although it’s a good idea to avoid white. A dark top also looks good for black and white images. Some people prefer to have bare feet although this is entirely your choice.The important thing is to feel comfortable in your choice, it also helps to coordinate the colours amongst your group.WHAT TO BRING?We love to capture YOU - your loved ones, your pets your hobbies. If your passion is playing the guitar, mountain biking or horse riding - bring your Gibson, your bike or even dress up in your riding outfit. For children - their favourite toy always works well - feel free to bring your own "Props" -at the end of the day it’s YOUR photo session - lets liven it up!Don't forget about your pets - they can often be an important member of the family too.A YEAR IN THE LIFEThis is an amazing deal for parents of new born babies - to capture those special memories from your child's first year. This £60 deal includes 4 separate sessions that are taken at intervals throughout the first year. You will be able to document and have forever this unique and amazing time.The photographs can be purchased separately or even put into a wonderful professionally bound book containing up to 50 of your most treasured photographs from these sessions.This offer can also be done with older babies/toddlers provided the four sittings are done within a 12 month period.Vouchers can also be bought making excellent gifts for the proud parents.Please contact Studio 49 to discuss your requirements and feel free to make an appointment to see the studio first to get a feel for what can be offered. Teaching

Studio 49 offer relaxed and informative tuition on digital photography and image manipulation through the use of Adobe Photoshop.All the courses are taught by Michael Taylor who, as well as being the Photographer at Studio 49, is an experienced & qualified tutor for Coleg Gwent, Coleg Powys and Glamorgan University Outreach Community Projects. He also works as an on-line tutor for the 'Institute of Professional Photography' training courses.Each course is open for a maximum of 2 students at a time at a cost of £90 per person.The nature of the teaching is to be a bespoke service, therefore specific course structures are best discussed prior to the lesson.Please contact for more information or if you wish to purchase a lesson voucher as a gift.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS TERMS AND CONDITIONS1. DEFINITIONS For the purpose of this agreement the "Client" shall where the context so admits include their assignees, sub licensees and successors in title. The Photographer in this document refers to Studio 49 Photography and/or Michael Taylor. "Photographs" means all photographic material furnished by the Photographer, whether transparencies, negatives, prints or any other type of physical or electronic material. 2. COPYRIGHT The entire copyright in the Photographs is retained by the Photographer at all times throughout the world. 3. USE The Licence to Use comes into effect from the date of payment of the relevant invoice(s). No use may be made of the Photographs before payment in full of the relevant invoice(s) without the Photographer's express permission. Any permission which may be given for prior use will automatically be revoked if full payment is not made by the due date or if the Client is put into receivership or liquidation. The Licence only applies to the client and product as stated on the front of the form and its benefit shall not be assigned to any third party without the Photographer's permission. Accordingly, even where any form of 'all media' Licence is granted, the photographer's permission must be obtained before any use of the Photographs for other purposes e.g. use in relation to another product or sublicensing through a photo-library. Permission to use the Photographs for purposes outside the terms of the Licence will normally be granted upon payment of a further fee, which must be mutually agreed (and paid in full) before such further use. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all further Licenses in respect of the Photographs will be subject to these terms and conditions.The Photographs are not subject matter released. Therefore, unless otherwise indicated, Photographs are available for normal and generally accepted editorial purposes. The Client agrees it will not use them in anyway which would give rise to a cause of action by persons identifiable in the Photographs or by persons owning property identifiable in the photographs.4. EXCLUSIVITY & USE BY STUDIO 49 PHOTOGRAPHYThe Client will be authorised to publish the Photographs to the exclusion of all other persons. However, the Photographer retains the right in all cases to use the Photographs in any manner at any time and in any part of the world for the purposes of advertising or otherwise promoting his/her work. After the exclusivity period indicated in the License to Use the Photographer shall be entitled to use the Photographs for any purposes. 5. CLIENT CONFIDENTIALITY The photographer will keep confidential and will not disclose to any third parties or make use of material or information communicated to him/her in confidence for the purposes of the photography, save as may be reasonably necessary to enable the Photographer to carry out his/her obligations in relation to the commission. 6. INDEMNITY The Photographer agrees to indemnify the Client against all expenses, damages, claims and legal costs arising out of any failure by the Photographer to obtain any clearances for which he/she was responsible in respect of third party copyright works, trade marks, designs or other intellectual property. The Photographer shall only be responsible for obtaining such clearances if this has been expressly agreed before the shoot. In all other cases the Client shall be responsible for obtaining such clearances and will indemnify the Photographer against all expenses, damages, claims and legal costs arising out of any failure to obtain such clearances.7. PAYMENT Payment by the Client will be expected for the commissioned work within 30 days of the issue of the relevant invoice. If the invoice is not paid, in full, within 30 days The Photographer reserves the right to charge interest at the rate prescribed by the Late Payment of Commercial Debt (Interest) Act 1998 (Bank of England base rate plus 8%) from the date payment was due until the date payment is made, plus any debt recovery costs.8. EXPENSES Where extra expenses or time are incurred by the Photographer as a result of alterations to the original brief by the Client, or otherwise at their request, the Client shall give approval to and be liable to pay such extra expenses or fees at the Photographer's normal rate to the Photographer in addition to the expenses as having been agreed or estimated. 9. REJECTION Unless a rejection fee has been agreed in advance, there is no right to reject on the basis of style or composition. 10. CANCELLATION & POSTPONEMENT A booking is considered firm as from the date of confirmation and accordingly the Photographer will, at his discretion, charge a fee for cancellation or postponement. 11. RIGHT TO A CREDIT If a right to a credit has been agreed the Photographer's name will be printed on or in reasonable proximity to all published reproductions of the Photograph(s). 12. APPLICABLE LAW This agreement shall be governed by the laws of England & Wales.13. VARIATION These Terms and Conditions shall not be varied except by agreement in writing.
