Courses

Situated in the village of Gilwern just outside Abergavenny, nestling between the stunning landscape of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons, Studio 49 offer relaxed and informative tuition. All the courses are designed for 1 or 2 students at a time, therefore giving plenty of scope to adapt the content for specific requirements and interests.

All the courses are taught by Michael Taylor who, as well as being the Photographer at Studio 49, is an experienced tutor for Coleg Gwent, Coleg Powys and Glamorgan University Outreach Community Projects.

There are 3 courses outlined below, however the nature of the teaching is to be a bespoke service, therefore specific course structures are best discussed prior to the lesson.

•Understanding your Digital Camera. 1 Day Course - £90.00 Per Person

Get to know your way around your digital camera. The tutor will take away the mystery by explaining and simplifying the various settings. Along with some initial theory in the studio the emphasis will be on practical learning by venturing out into the wonderful countryside. The tutor will then take you through downloading of the images onto the computer, along with basic computer skills and file management.

•Basic Image Manipulation. 1 Day Course - £90.00 Per Person

Using Adobe Photoshop®, understand the basics of image manipulation. The tutor will take you through retouching, manipulation and creating special effects. Specific attention will be paid to the Tool Palette, making Selections, Adjustments and the wonder of Filters.

•More Image Manipulation. 1 Day Course - £90.00 Per Person

(If taken with the Basic Course the cost will be £150.00 for the two)

Designed for people who have some basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop®, this day can either follow on from the Basic Image Manipulation course, or treated as an opportunity to build on previous skills. The tutor will look at Layers, Multiple Images along with advanced selection techniques.
